GI pipe applications beyond plumbing
Scaffolding is one of the largest non-plumbing uses of GI pipe — its corrosion resistance matters here because scaffold tube gets reused across dozens of sites and weather exposures over its working life.
In agriculture, GI pipe frames greenhouses, fencing, and irrigation supports, where it needs to survive years outdoors with no maintenance budget.
Its combination of strength, weldability, and a coating that survives handling damage is why it keeps showing up anywhere steel needs to live outdoors long-term without a repaint cycle.
For fencing and farm structures specifically, GI pipe's re-usability is underrated — a section pulled from a decommissioned structure and welded into a new one still has most of its corrosion life left, unlike a painted pipe that's already lost its surface protection to wear.
