Extending the life of your roofing sheets
Galvanized roofing is built to last, but the zinc coating still needs a clear path to do its job — that means keeping fastener points sealed and debris from pooling water against the sheet.
Twice-yearly inspections catch the two things that actually shorten roof life: loosened screws letting water track underneath, and dissimilar metals in contact causing galvanic corrosion.
Wash off industrial dust or coastal salt buildup with plain water rather than harsh detergents, which can strip the protective zinc layer faster than weather alone.
Overlap direction matters more than people expect — sheets should always overlap against the prevailing wind and rain direction for your site, not just downhill. A reversed overlap is one of the most common causes of leaks that get blamed on the material instead of the installation.
